SAT Example (Short Reading Comprehension)

The Saturday morning recitals at the Daniels School of music were part of my weekend routine as a child. After a two-hour class on music theory, we would adjourn to the auditorium to hone our performance skills before a beaming audience: our parents. One Saturday, I was scheduled to play two brief piano pieces. We were required to play from memory, and I had practiced hard. The opening notes of the first piece, however, just wouldn't come to my fingers. After four false starts, I rose, bowed to the audience, and told them, "Since I can't remember the first selection, I will be happy to play you the second."
