Refer to the following passage.

On the most distinctive forms of Roman sculpture was the portrait bust. Developed around 100 B.C., portrait busts were first used to honor important officials. In contrast to Greek portrait busts which usually depicted the subject in an idealized fashion, Roman portraits were typically realistic, focusing on individual features and characteristics. Experts have remarked that even the carving style in Roman portrait sculpted image was intended to convey a sense of personality and vigor. In Roman portraits, the head dominated the composition; the figure's draped shoulders are so conventional and unvarying as to seem almost an afterthought.
