Refer to the following passage.
Kente, a strip-woven cloth woven by the Asante peoples of Ghana and the Ewe of Ghana and Togo is the best known African textile. The original purpose of Kente was to serve as festive attire for special occasions.
Men wore the cloth in the fashion of a Roman toga, while women used multiple kentes as wraps.
The cloth was once closely associated with kings and queens, but its much broader dispersal is clearly evident today, in both West Africa and the United States.
Kente patterns have been adapted for a wide range of products, including greeting cards, balloons, even Band-Aids.
