사건이 일어난 시점에 맞추어서 현재와 과거, 대과거를 표현해 주는 것이 시제 문제의 가장 큰 축이다.
여기서는 enduring weeks of practice 한 것이 prepared for their first match 한 것보다 먼저 발생한 일임으로 동명사의 시제가 문장의 동사의 시제보다 한 단계 앞선다는 것을 표현해 주어야 한다.
동명사를 과거, 과거 완료형으로 만들기 위해서는 완료형 동명사를 사용하는데 동명사 앞에 having을 붙여서 만든다.
여기서는 완료형 동명사를 사용한 답이 B번과, E번인데 B번은 대명사의 사용이 잘못 되었다. 대명사는 명사를 대신 받는 말이라 the wrestlers가 먼저 나오고 they가 뒤에 나오는 것이 순서상 맞다.
