SAT Example (Short Reading Comprehension)

　

I am compelled by the stories of women in history. In my dreams, I stand on the coastline and these women come to me in rowboats ― gentle waves rolling inexorably to the shore. They ask how I will remember them and how I will remember them to others in my artwork. Sometimes I am surprised by the things that are important to them. Into the sands of my sleep, they trace images of struggles won and lost, children reared, loves pursued; when I wake, I struggle to hold my head still, hoping to keep the sands from shifting so that I can remember well the ideas gifted to me.
